No you're right, I think "idealistic" isn't quite the word to describe him, since compared to most people here he's very realistic. What I mean to say is that he is an idealist in the sense of being a sort of moralist, putting others before himself, and not trying anything cowardly or underhanded


The thing is, these characters are talking as if there are only two choices, "get help" and "fight the vlychians alone". But that's a false dilemma, there are other options, the prince just isn't yet experienced enough in the ways of politics and war to see them

It will become more clear what I mean in later pages, at the moment, I can see why it seems a bit bizarre to call him an idealist
