Could this be true? It somehow sounds too good...

Well, it's honestly not that good even, if you keep in mind that the terms of humans joining this empire would probably be similar to what was proposed on page 16-

http://watb.webcomic.ws/comics/16/

(Basically, humans get around 10% the usual minimum amount of land they'd want from a planet, plus some near-worthless polar regions)

Whether it's true or not is still definitely an open question, though

Mmmh. That isn't a lot of land, that's true... I don't know then. We'll have to see if it's a good idea or not!

You building and water effect remind me of the game Tactic Ogre: Knight of Lodis. Of course it's a isometric pixelart, but I think therE's a lot of similarities - In a good way, of course!

I haven't actually played tactics ogre, but maybe I should. I took a look at some screenshots though, and it's a very pretty game, maybe I should see if I can play it.

I would like to get much better at drawing in isometric perspective though, I've only done a couple drawings like this and I am not at all satisfied with the results so far

it depends on which type of iso you want to do. The most popular one for pixel art is this one: http://www.treadwayindustries.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Big.png

You can find a couple of easy tutorial on internet. But what I like better is the iso from FF Tactics and Ogre Battle. It's a lot work though and there isn't many tutorial. I think this is why I like your style so much, you're really close to it.
